Go live in someone else's room for a month. he he
Seriously now, it's fairly simple. Put away, not down. Books back where they came from, clothes into their place in the closet or laundry. Bits and pieces in their box, not all over the dressing table. Then make your bed. All done!
If you do it all the time, you won't have a mess. It's boring, I know, but otherwise you'll spend your life in a mess. Mommy won't always be there to pick up after you.
Good luck!

The tips I've read here already are great.

But "we" are not going to be the ones judging your efforts. What you need (and must know to win the bet) is your parents' definition of what they consider clean. The more specific they are about what they want to see (the bed made and the trash emptied) and what they don't want to see (six pizza boxes from 2004 and the remains of a failed science experiment), the better. Give special attention to your history of room-cleaning: whatever they've complained about in the past is what must be improved upon (or avoided) in the future.

Ask them to help you make a list of what they want to see when they "inspect" your room at the end of the month. Try to identify specific problem areas, and ask if they can suggest any items or strategies that you will simplify the process of storing (magazine holders) or locating (labeling) or displaying (knicknacks) your items.

This isn't a tip, but it's a strong suspicion: If you can keep your room clean for a month without whining and complaining about how hard it is to do and how unfair it is to be expected to do it, your parents may be so impressed by your efforts that they give you an even nicer reward at the end of the month. If they see you demonstrating a willing spirit, they are much more likely to be inclined to be more generous in their "grading" of your cleaning performance, and to cut you some slack so that you can earn that reward.

And if you have grandparents, be sure to ask your grandparents to share their memories of the contents of the bedrooms in which your parents grew up. Then ask them to describe any conversations that they had with their children (the ones who turned out to be your parents) regarding the care and maintenance of those bedrooms. You might be quite surprised and entertained by what you learn.

If your room is clean to start with (which I'm assuming since you said "stay clean") then this is so easy to do.

Before you go to bed at night, take 5 or maybe 10 minutes to straighten up. Pick up dirty clothes and put them in the hamper. Put away your music CD's and/or DVD's. Throw away any trash that might've accumulated on the floor. Empty your trash can. Check dresser tops, and straighten them up. Baskets are a great way to keep make-up or other trinkets from making a "clutter" mess on your dresser or vanity top. Set a timer to do this. Don't spend more time than you've allowed yourself to do this.
One more tip: Lay out your clothes for the next day each night. This keeps you from frantically pulling out clothes to wear, and leaving clean clothes lying on the floor or bed as you rush out of your room the next morning.

In the morning, take the time to straighten your room before you leave, and make the bed. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

If you keep doing these bedtime and morning routines, you'll keep your bedroom clean with little effort and next to no time spent doing it.

Once you have your room staying clean for a month, see how much longer you can keep doing it. You'll love having a clean room, and no parents yelling at you to clean it.

Like Mel said, keep on top of the cleaning. I live in a big apartment and I find that if I set aside 20-30 mins at the end of the day for cleaning, it never gets out of control. Then spend an hour or so on the weekends for laundry and dusting, etc and you'll be in good shape. Come back and tell us what the reward was. :) Good luck!

The moment an idea to put something away or pick something up comes to your mind, DO IT RIGHT THEN.

Don't let yourself get away with the old "I'll do it later" excuse. After all, you have to do it sooner or later! Why not put things away one by one as needed rather than putting it off until you have so many things to put away that you are totally overwhelmed!

Go to the dollar tree and buy some poster board. They are 3 for a dollar. Get some of the dollar stickers too. Give yourself stickers for keeping your room clean! Every time you think "I'll just do it later", do it then put a sticker on the poster board! See if you can fill that board up!

Pretty soon you will have trained yourself to immediately put things where they go rather than putting it off!

Also, focus on how wonderful it feels when everything is neat and tidy and how proud you feel!

Good luck! I know you can do it!

It's actually quite simple, yet somewhat hard to do as you have to develop good habits and rid yourself of the bad ones.

When you're finished with something, put it right back.

When you change, throw your clothes in the hamper immediately.

Make your bed the second you wake up.

(are you finding pattern here?)

Do a quick clean sweep over your room before you go to bed. Make it a part of your nightly routine, even if you think it doesn't need to be done. If you have to, re-arrange something on your dresser or night stand so it looks neat.

Do this, and you're sure to win.
Also, if you keep it up for 3 weeks, everything you do will become a habit or second nature, so your room will always be clean!

Good luck!

by clean, I'm assuming you mean everything put away, not dirt...and yes you can win that bet with a little bit of effort on your part....I know about clutter and clutter just gets ahead of you. So to begin, have a small box or something like that by your door, look around and see what doesn't belong, like the dishes and stuff that should be in the bathroom, put them in the box, when you leave the room put them away, dishes to the kitchen, bathroom stuff to the bathroom. Get your dirty clothes to the laundry room and pick up the clean ones, take a minute to hang them up or put them away in drawers. This is kindergarten 101, if you take it out, put it back, if you drop it pick it up and put it away, not rocket science.... As for clean, I mean dirty, that's easy too, find yourself a good quality microfiber cloth, like Norwex, all you have to do is wet and clean with water, run it over all the surfaces you want to clean, rinse, hang and dry, how easy was that...?

Look at your question again, it has improper English grammar:) Anyways, my suggestion is to not have the " I'll do it later" attitude. For example; when you get home for the day, put your clothes away when you change, clean up any dishes you use right after you dirty them, and take care of any papers, mail etc, immediately after you look at them. Or, pretend that every minute of the day that a guest could just stop by unexpectedly, and ask yourself 'would I want someone to see my room like this'? Good Luck

Take a picture of your clean room before, print out the picture. Follow the way the room looks every single day. Anything excess, throw out or store away.

Daily:

Never leave things on the floor.
Vacuum.
Hang and fold your clothes.
Have a big garbage bin to throw your junk in.

Mark each day of our calender as a checklist. If you don't, that means you are falling behind and not keeping track.

Always make your bed first thing after you get up in the morning, and don't 'get into bed' until you are ready to go to sleep at night. Make sure you put your 'dirty clothes' straight into a hamper/laundry basket, and you put your 'clean clothes' away immediately. When you are working on papers, and make a mistake, toss it into the trash, not onto the floor or leave it on the desk. Keep any 'toys' (figurines, stuffed animals, computer games, etc.) put away neatly after you use them. Vacuum your floor at least once every week. Make sure there is nothing 'stuffed' under your bed ... if necessary, get 'bags' or boxes to store them under the bed.
