I changed jobs last year.

Up till then I used to wake up at 4.30 every morning for 15 years.

I now work 2nd shift, 3 - 11, sometimes an hour or so OT.

It's so enjoyable to sleep in and not hear that damn alarm clock anymore.

It took a few months to get used to staying up that late but it's really nice now.

no rush hour traffic either.

Well I used to work the 3pm to 11pm shift summers while in highschool...that was bad enough...it seemed you came home, showered, flopped in bed and woke up in time to just do it all over again. It was hard labour back then too...and all the old foggies would pull the "but you are young" card out and drop all the hard work onto you and I'd be just dead to the world when I got home! LOL

But night shift...I dont think you ever get used to that...but hey someone's gotta do it.

PS: I think when they keep shifting your shifts around is when it's really bad...because your body's clock never has a chance to adjust when they keep switching it every few weeks or months or whatever. It can be fun depending on what you are doing. It's hard as you miss out on the day things but if you don't mind you're probably really not missing much.

I did when I used to work at Target. The pay wasn't great but I worked from 6pm to 12 or 1 am. It was such an awful job and I would never do it again. But if it was at a different job with better pay, I would consider it. Usually night shift jobs do pay better than day time jobs.

For good pay and a job I would, but not for too long. I worked a night shift for over a year. It took quite awhile to get my sleep pattern back to normal. During this period I worked, I was always tired and it was difficult to keep track of time. Some people are built for it though and enjoy it very much. I did like the long weekends and traffic was always light!!!

I worked for over a year on the nightshift at a supermarket. This coming week is my last, because I've had it with working nights.

I used to work nightshift most recently, but had to quit b/c of my husband's job. Mine was not a "real" job, just something to bring in extra money. I assembled medical equipment at night & it only paid $8.00 an hour. It was worth it to work at night b/c I didn't have the expense of daycare.

for over 14 years on third shift @ different factories and some of it was good money some wasn't....I choose it because the people are more laid back, no bigwigs running around, and it's usually cooler in the summer time than on days. I love it I'm a night person.

Yes, I am more of a night person anyway. My husband used to love the night shift on base. In Arizona he preferred it, especially in the summer. If given the opportunity I would in a heart beat.

i have before ... for minimum wage! It was when I was young and still in high school. If it payed good I would do it again even though I never could adjust to the sleeping in the daytime part. But....money talks.
