In general, we are spending our time EITHER
* in school, getting an education, or
* at work, getting an income
until retirement of course

There are some people who work at same time, to help pay for advanced schooling, but they need to manage their hours so the work not interfere with the schooling, and time at school not interfere with the work.

This means we have to be selective in both the classes we take, and the jobs we work, so as to avoid conflicts.

Child labor laws apply to people who are sufficiently young that they are not yet able to do a full work day, and are expected to finish secondary schooling before full adult work begins.

Here are links to Colorado Child Labor Laws.
They refer to
* minimum wage and related benefits and responsibilities
* hours the kids may work, such as on a school nite
* work place safety and avoiding hazardous occupations
* minimum age where driving as part of the job
* resolution where federal & state laws are different
* differences between Colorado and other states

Only if you are under 18 or enrolled in high school. Otherwise, you have no rights to have that day off for educational purposes. Quite frankly, I suggest you ditch your job and get a better one. You can make a lot more money and have a much better job. I guarantee that is true.
