My roommate sits next to me on her laptop and I can hear her just SLAMMING HER FINGERS on the keys.
Settle DOWN PSHYCO! They will still work when you barely tap them. Moron.

Oh I understand I HATE that to. My roommate used to do it so I loosened some of her keys so when she typed they popped off everywhere. I told her things like that happen when you abuse your laptop like that.

I, for one, was raised in an era of manual and electric typewriters and had to adjust to a computer keyboard. And then there are ones who tap the keys hard because either their fingers are too high (arched like claws) or too low (bending upward at the wrists) so you might look and see if that's the cause and suggest raising or lowering the keyboard. Other than that, just get over it. It's better than her humming to herself as she works or cracking gum.

There are these reasons I can think of :-

1. Due to frustrations that they have so much work to do and do not know how to relax, they show their anger on the keyboard instead and thus, hurting their fingers;

2. Due to the fact that they are beginners, they do not know anything about CPU peripherals and when they typed any words, they tend to key hard instead of just tabbing. Gees.....

Cheers :)

I hunt and peck so I do seem to hit the keys a little hard.

May be I'm angry that I cant type like a normal person?

Maybe she thinks it will stimulate the growth of her fingernails. Or maybe she's just a moron.

I had a roommate once who was REALLY bizarre, though. So if this is the worst thing about her, then count your blessings. At least she (probably) hasn't named her ferrett after you.

Chill! Why are you so concerned with how hard she hits the keys? Big Deal

I THINK IT IS BECAUSE WITH THE OLD TYPEWRITER YOU HAD TO HIT THE KEYS PRETTY HARD AND SO MANY PEOPLE WERE USE TO IT. I USE TO DO THE SAME THING BUT I HAVE FINALLY EASED UP A LITTLE ON THE KEYS.
