So that, during the time you are alive, you can have a worthwhile experience.
To follow your line of thinking - why bother to go to a concert, it will just end... ( because while you are there, you may just enjoy yourself and feed your soul )
I don't believe it ends in nothingness. I believe we continue to return until we learn enough to reach a state of grace and are allowed to move on to the next state of consciousness... whatever that may be. And even if we just end in nothingness, I'm going to fill my heart and mind with as much love and music and joy as I can while I can appreciate it.
History? It is said that those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it. Maybe we should only elect people who get A's in history :)
Physics? I'm guessing somewhere in physics are some practical lessons you might use while you are here, like using a lever or a block and tackle to move something.. or knowing that a heavy load in the back of a pickup will inevitably slide forward into the cab area if you don't either push it up against the cab or secure it very tightly at the tailgate end... Physics would tell you that forward motion continues if there is something loose in the back.... etc.. you see what I mean..

why do you fill your belly several times a day??? sure you are going to die, but before that happens you have the world at your finger tips and have countless opportunities. Or would you rather plunk your butt down and wait for th reaper to show up, it could be a very long wait so you might as well have fun while you wait. There is nothing that is more enjoyable than learning. Maybe you don;t need to know a certain aspect of history, but you are also learning that you are capable of learning stuff that is sometimes complicated and uinteresting to you. The lessons you learn in school are not always literally on the lesson plan, you learn to learn, you learn patience to see things through even though you can't envision the outcome. C'mon, give life a chance, it really is a lot of fun!!

Because that is what you are here for.
To die in the physical does not necessarily equate to dying in the spirit.
Another question: If you learn nothing and you die, and you have to come back and do it all again, what a goose you would be.
WE are matter from energy. Energy cannot be destroyed so we are immortal. Whether we have an individualism in the other realm is what you are hyper-ventilating about. Seize the day, find truth, and appreciate this reality. You are doing an all or nothing, there is more to life than the Christian hypothesis which you are basing your question on. If the Christian God is nonsense, why does it mean nothingness. The other possibilities are exciting and limitness.

unless you're a psychic, you're able to see when you're gonna die and be selective of the people and things in life that you want in your life. you are able to avoid all the pain and trouble of living.
or unless you're an avid believer of the saying "ignorance is a bliss". stop learning.
but i reckon you're not, thats why you ask such a question.
all the more reasons, why you have to learn things- anything. you can learn anything from everything and vice versa, not just the school's syllabus ie. geo, history, maths- open up more to the world around you, there's an infinite and vast amount of knowledge out there for you that is very able make you feel stupid and hollow cos you're not able to understand and discover something or anything out of something.
school is good. you wouldnt know what happen to you tomorrow, or in a week or in another 10 years time. you just dont. so you prepare yourself.
as for death, it is a knowledge of it own- you should start to learn about it. it's interesting and everlasting. it just shows more of your ignorance when you say death is nothingness.

It all ends in death, but death isn't nothing. Death is the beginning of something bigger. That's why it's important to build your mind and fill it with thoughts; you need to work to become the best version of yourself that you can possibly be so that, when you die, you can say you did something good with your life. That's what it's all about. If overall you spent your life trying to do good for others, heaven is waiting for you on the other side. That is something, not nothing.

Well, I believe that life is a gift. We are born and given life on this planet to accomplish something. What that thing is, is up to you. In order to live life, you know must a little about it. I guess you could be born into this life and basically sit in a room and do nothing. You could watch life pass you by and have absolutely no experiences, love no one and aspire to nothing. It is your life and only you control what is done with it.
On the other hand, since we all know that we are not born, just to die, we may want to learn a little about this thing called life and what other people did with their time here. So, I guess you can either sit around and wait for your life to end or you can spend your time experiencing what life can offer.

I see what you mean. Why all the effort, when you will just die?
My theory is, as long as you are stuck here, you may as well try to make it comfortable, and that means lots of work an education.
As I always say "If it can (anything bad), it will happen". My goal in life is to prevent all the crap that God has dished out on us, so I can atleast have some time to enjoy before I die.

Expanding one's mind is reward in itself. If it is as you say and there is nothing, we are all in the ****.
Hope is an amazing idea that sustains people through terrible circumstances. For the next fifty years at least, you have a future. It shouldn't necessarily be about accumulation, but developing the raw, unfinished product that you are today. Many people are of the mindset that you are defined by your possessions, I certainly hope not as I eschewed that concept when I was about your age. The important thing is... and for you to locate that point, you have to stretch your grey matter.

Because in the scheme of things, one life is irrelevant, but if everyone thought that way, futures generations would have nothing. You as a person will die. Yes. But our species needs you to contribute to the wealth of potential it has and will have. Your thinking is understandable, but you need to consider that you are part of a huge population. We will live, even when you die. So how will you help us? Through your own education, and the ability to share that with others.

if you really are so confused, then why don't you just resign from Y A's and get the heck out of here.. if that is a real picture of you, then I can see why you think life is a waste of time..I say there is a better place in another time and I want to take some of the good stuff with me.. perhaps you need to check the information a little further and then decide..
