Or maybe you think 8 year olds should be reading about politics all the time ?

Most Harry Potter fans are kids, perhaps some older teens, but not many adults are fans of Harry! If a kid can't live in a fantasy world, as many of us did when young, then they will not have experienced true childhood. Too many children are missing out on that already as we live in a world that is torn apart by war, hunger, thirst & fear. Why not let them have this little bit of childhood without worry that they won't grow up to be just as normal (?) as most of us did when we believed in Santa & the tooth fairy!

Yes. They do. And it is not that bad. Reading a book is amazing, especially when you read a good one. When was the last book that you actually read and enjoyed?

No. They read about a fantasy world.
Then go back to their lives. At least 99.9+% of them do.
You'll find a few fanatics in pretty much any group.
