Kaspersky is very good. Of the top 10 anti-virus programs 2 are based on Kaspersky including the number one ranked program for 2006-2007. So Kaspersky basically has 3 of the top 10 positions if you include Kaspersky itself. How about those Russians: good at writing viruses and good at writing the software to protect against them.

Loaded Question for sure.
Norton is a huge pig, the freebies are never updated enough and 90% of the time are spyware themselves, Mcafee seems to be getting their act together as far as a suite goes, PC Cillin did have my vote until this latest version of theirs. Computer Associates, nothing works together as advertised, even Kaspersky, last time I looked couldn't be considered a suite.
Where do you draw the line?
My vote for an all around everything included suite, Mcafee 2007. Just be sure to remove "Easy Network" and "Wireless Security". It all seems to work.

I would have to say McAfee. The only problem I've had with them is that they want you to buy a new version every other year (though that's how they make money). They have a good anti-virus that actually WANTS to be updated, and an easy to use firewall.

You don't have to spend a dime.
You can just download the free home version of Avast. I've used a few other antivirus programs (Norton, Mcafee, etc...) and I prefer Avast.
And it's won several awards.

I have Norton Internet Security and I like it a lot (contrary to what other people have said) but I've heard that Trend Micro is the best you can get.
