I'm a writer and the release date for my new book was 7/23/07. It is titled "Love's Soft Voice." It is the love story between a Native American man and an African woman who is a runaway slave. The ISBN is 1-4241-8190-9. It is filled with love, adventure, culture, and history. It is historical fiction; however, the story is based on a legend that has been passed to me from my Ancestors. It is actually the origin of my family. It is avaliable at amazon.com and I'm sure that any bookstore can order it. I'll list places below that carry the book. If you order it, please send me an email to rubybgc@yahoo.com and let me know how you like it. It will keep your interest.

I've been reading some really good ones lately ...
"The Splendor of Silence" by Indu Sundaresan. The entire book covers only about four days in India in the era of World War II, but what a wonderful four days! There's a love story, a mystery about a missing brother, and a family story all rolled up in one. Very good!
"Brick Lane" by Monica Ali. It's about a Bangladeshi woman who immigrates to England to marry a man that her family has chosen for her. She has to learn to love him (maybe she does and maybe she doesn't), but she does have children with him and makes a life with him. The story concerns her learning to live a completely different life from the one she grew up with. There is a surprise ending that is really satisfying.
Others that I've liked, as well:
"The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini
"Shalimar the Clown" by Salman Rushdie
"Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt
"Year of Wonders" by Geraldine Brooks
"Ladies Coupe" by Anita Nair

"The Singer of All Songs" by Kate Constable is the beginning of the greatest series of books, ending in the greatest book, EVER. Yes, it DOES pwn Harry Potter, and I DID read the last book. What now?! Oh, but that is by no means it's own competition. I've also read "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck and His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman (sp?), and it has surpassed them all.

Book Description
Something unusual is happening at 57 Grove Street in Bangor, Maine. Within those fine Victorian walls, the ladies of Pirate Shirt Dot Com insist they are not running a dating service—it’s a romantic adventure company. Their quirky business comes complete with a male pirate model on all of their publicity materials. In the middle of helping customers tap their greatest romantic fantasies, however, Susana Hammond, her sister, Sophie Hammond, and their friend, Gabby Killeen, soon find themselves ensconced in their own passionate adventures. For spunky Susana, a handyman she calls “Yummy Tool Belt Guy” brings new meaning to home decoration. Gabby’s fiancé, a soldier, comes home to her amid tragedy. A pilot—not a pirate—woos sophisticated Sophie’s heart. Will these women find their own happiness with their modern-day lusty love pirates, or will they be out to sea?
