This makes sense. You are in your teens. Females of the human persuasion are physically more mature than the males of the species. This is true especially if the female is about the age of 14-16.

Another reason is that the female is plain flat out the best athlete of the combined group. I've seen several times when the female is far better athlete in a group of people.

Martina Navratilova, and Annika Sorenstam would be excellent examples of this. While unlikely to excel against their male colleagues in the mens professional version, in contrast at the local club level or when they were young in High School they would clobber anyone. Simply, a great athlete is a great athlete.

A couple of examples of this occur in sports where shear power but athletic skill predominates. In Drag Racing, Olympic class target shooting, Trap shooting, for instances it is not all that unusual to have a female predominate the sport. Again a great athlete is a great athlete.

Then what you are seeing is not all that incredible. Indeed it would happen more often if most women didn't avoid power sports like football. Women athletes prefer to focus on sports or leagues where the physical power doesn't come into the equation. Athletic skill does.

Few men can do the Beam, or the uneven bars, or Synchro Swimming. Men can't flex like women can. And these special sports requires an equal measure of athletic ability too. The problem is that these skill sports do not get the profile of the other sports.

Around the age of twenty men physically catch up to women both in brute power and physical reflex speed. Football is unfortunately one of those power sports that needs both power and skill even at the positions one wouldn't think one would need it.

Young women seem to avoid one football position which would lend itself to their physical attributes. I cannot recall any women wanting to be a kicker. That is the one area, even in professional football where they potentially would excel but as to date no women have used that dog to hunt.

Why is this surprising? Kicking is not only applied power but it is accuracy too. Women can develop leg power. The different pelvic girdle means that they could, in theory do a far better job at delivering thrust into the football with consistency, while retaining their balance. But to date no football coach or player has ever thought to try that probable advantage.

Another deficiency that affects this is the fact of roles. Society dictates that women do this or do that. And that men must do this or that. Human society, despite all the effort to change attitudes forces people into perceptions of themselves. Women mature quicker than males. At the age of twenty women tend to take on more important social roles. Even women athletes tend to be more expansive in their priorities than male counterparts.

Social roles play an important function in social activities even when people try to work against the walls. You pointed out in your very question. You said "...is it weird."

Well logically it really isn't. It is unusual yes. It is not a sport with any future for a woman participant since one ultimately to play at the ultimate level of professional sports that person needs not only superb athleticism, but reflex speed and brute power too.

If this is a friend or acquaintance be very supportive of her. Maybe she will be the one to make it to the NFL or CFL, its a good feeling ride for her and her fans.

If this is you. As long as you enjoy it, what the hell? Why not?

depends on the ages if the boys and girls are like 9 or 10 then it is likely that a girl could be better but at around 15-16 and older, a guy in good shape will likely/should be better at football because men are generally bigger faster and stronger than girls are and it would be odd if an 18 year old girl is better than a 18 year old boy at football

jeez! gordc definately wants the best answer even though some of her/his points are false

it's not weird, it's something you want to do and like so go for it...as long as you don't start acting like a guy off the field...then it gets a little weird for guys...or not! some guys like a girl they can hang with....just be who you are and like what you like, don't worry about what anyone says... I love football too, I was never on a team but I might have been...I love sports and a lot of my girl friends think that's weird, to each his own, I have fun and that's what counts.... I get kind of mad because it's not tackle, why do girls only have flag football? :| blah. go for it!!! :D edit: no one ever listens to the Guys or Girls thing at the start of a question haha

its ok you have basketball, tennis and all those other things, but football will always be a mans sport,if it turned to women no one would watch it like no one watches the wnba.

No, I believe that women are equal to men, and i think that even scientifically it is said that women are a little bit naturally smarter than men. The only alternative or bad thing to a women competing with men is that they unfortunately start to become more like a man in the looks department. Sorry men
more than likely on average stronger than women, but women can still be as skillful as men.
