After the soon-to-be-suspended Michael Vick, there's former Lions bust Joey Harrington and former Ravens starting QB Chris Redman.

I remember Redman from when he started for the Ravens. I thought he looked like he was about to become a star, but he broke his back and wasn't the same again, just as he was coming off a string of really good games.

Redman started 6 games for the 2002 Ravens. His #1 WR (and the only one who had at least 25 catches for the Ravens that year) was Travis Taylor. Taylor was absolutely awful. His only other pass catchers of note were Jamal Lewis, who was never all that good a receiver, and Todd Heap (the leader pass catcher on that team, for good reason). Redman completed 53% of his passes for 1034 yards, 7 TDs, and 3 INTs. He was 3-3 as a starter, including winning 3 of his last 4 and throwing for 6 TDs against only 1 pick in his last 4 games (source: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/games/RedmCh00.htm#2002 ).

Who should start for the Falcons?

With either of them the Falcons are in trouble. Harrington though would be the natural choice to be the starter since he has more experience. With Vick maybe having to take a leave of absence things don't look good for the Falcons.

It'll be Joey Harrington, and if he stinks up the field it might be Redman, but with the kind of injury he is recovering from, I'd be trying to work a deal to get Dante Culpepper in there, he'd be a good choice and he needs a home. Things are really starting to look bad for Vick they have more inditements coming an people are rolling like crazy.

If the Falcons aren't going to have the services of Michael Vick, a-k-a "Ron Mexico, King of Bad Newz Kennels", then its going to be a long year in the A-T-L, which is perfectly fine for this lifetime Saints fan. But attempting to replace Vick with Chris Redman and/or Joey Harrington is a nightmare. They might be better off bringing in Redman and Method Man for a try-out. Or perhaps Lil' Jon is available. The stats you give on Redman are good numbers, but thats in six games. There's no guarantee he can do that for sixteen games. And why is it that every team with Joey Harrington at quarterback get a sudden increase of suckability? The Lions won like 11 games the whole time he was there. He was good for like 15 minutes with the Dolphins last year, but was then benched in favor of Cleo Lemon, whose name implies that he's a shady used car salesman. Is Steve DeBerg still their QB coach? Maybe he could start this year. Maybe they could ask the Texans real nice to let them have Matt Schaub back. I hear Tim Couch is available, perhaps they should put him under center for 2007-08. Perhaps the Redskins will trade Antwan Randle El to them and he can go back to playing quarterback. Doesn't matter who starts because you can't replace Vick because of his unique skills set. But perhaps a better question is who is going to catch the ball. Sure you have Joe Horn, but there's a reason my Saints were willing to part ways with him. He spent more time on the sidelines than on the field, dealing with the injuries a 35 year old wide receiver deals with. Beyond him no one could catch a cold nevertheless a football.

Every time I think about the Falcons sucking this year brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart. Prepare to be plucked Dirty Birds on October 21 and December 10. Your misfortune is my pleasure

Harrington will be the QB, but don't be surprised if Culpepper isn't signed. It really won't matter, because the Falcons hope to get the kid from Louisville next year.

I'm going to put my money on Harrington. This is truly his last shot. He has all the tools, but, he kinda reminds me of Bill Kenney with the Chiefs. Kenney was a great passer, but, had to pass protection and became shell shocked. If he has protection and he can get over Detroit, he will make it. Redman just never has impressed me.

Neither, I like both as athletes but they have never been consistant in play. There is a big guy out there who is wanting to prove to the world that he can play big. For a while he was the biggest and best surprise in the league. Nobody wants him now, his name Culpepper. What a pleasant surprise that would be Falcons. What a great story as well. You can't buy heart and fortitude that comes from wanting to win and returning from an injury like that or the maturity that comes from it. Worth a shot Atlanta, sorry Mike and I'm gonna miss you

I think that Joey Harrington will get the starting job and next year he will be the back up to Vick.
