Don't blow in the game, it eventually corrodes the connectors instead wipe it down with alcohol, or vinegar. As far as your system goes, go to ebay, and buy a new 72 pin connector, they are super easy to install (all that is required is a screwdriver and 10 minutes) and will make your NES system work like new again. I have worked on hundreds of these systems repairing them as a hobby. Feel free to email me with any questions!!!

wow, this i can help you with! finally old rob knows what he's doing, now this ain't pretty you can take the entire thing apart, detach the button and controller wires from the motherboard, unscrew the loading tray pull off the thing that connects the cartridge to the motherboard soak that in piping hot water for a whilenot the electronics, just the junction thing try cleaning it off with bleach or alchahol solvents let it dry off, clean the terminals off the motherboard, make sure there's nothing in the junction thing or the ext terminal or anything that doesn't belong anywhere else. after everything is clean, put it all back together, if it keeps up then it's the cartridge that's the problem

If all else fails use a Q-tip dipped in alcohol and wipe down the contacts in the cartridge. You can also wipe down the contacts in the console cartridge slot as well. Good luck. This is a very common problem with the NES and SNES.

Do what I used to do when I had an NES and the game didn't play, blow into the cartridge, and then blow into the slot where the cartridges goes. Try and see if it works. If that doesn't work, then I would hit the reset button quickly a few times. If that doesn't work, then I would push the cartridge up and down several times. If that doesn't work, then you probably need to get it fixed.

It could be a combination of hardware damage and dust inside the system.
I'm not too sure, but that was the problem with my Xbox 360 and I got it repaired. :)

well as the first poster said it probably doesnt work because its old as hell. it might have been knocked around alittle through the years and something knocked loose. thats a possibility. and if its dust you could blow on the game itself. works for my cousins NES. you could get 1 of those cans of air that they sell for computers and blow that into it to see if that helps the dust problem if that is the problem.
