republican or democratic?

Both.

We are a democratic republic. Democratic because people vote for their leaders, republic because their leaders make the day-to-day decisions.

A pure (polyarchal) democracy is where everyone votes directly on the laws and other issues, instead of having elected legislators.

And there can be other types of republics, including ones based on property ownership, appointment by a monarch, etc. Any system where leaders represent the people counts as a republic, whether the people voted for those representatives are not.

well here it goes, it from a republic, then

1st federal republic, ( true freedom and purely capitalist)

then democratic republic, ( freedom of states are torn somewhat, mixed economy )

3rd democratic, ( a blend of capitalism, socialism and the occasional communist situtation)

4rth democratic socialist, ( capitalism to just start the economy then welfare starts into the picture, like national healthcare, extreme taxes, land rights at this time are coming to an end )

5th socialist, ( only government or high officials own land, corporations are highly government funded, introduction to forced labor( starting to happen in europe as we speak ))

6th socialist complete take over ( corporations are now completly owned by the government, halth care starts to degrade at this stage, welfare pensions also start falling, slow economy, forced labor is around 30 percent, morale of people is stil l high though at this stage. at this stage there is no way turning back.

7th, communism. ( economy stalls, build solely for war, people are objects, morale drops alot, at this timeline, it is at its end of its cycle.

8th revolution ( at this stage people in general have better hope being killed then living and are thus likely to revolt and spill blood. once that happens , it goes back to cycles 1-4.

currently the usa is a bit behind, we're at 4rth right now, constitution is used in such a way as how the prince and princess of japan are today.

Europe is at stage 5th going on to 6th. And russia well they were a bit early they hit stage 8, skipped stages 1-4 and are at 5 now alongside europe.

In theory? A democracy.
In practice? A blend of plutocratic oligarchy and corporatocracy, sadly.

P.S. Republican and Democratic are merely parties within the system of government, not the government itself.
