My experience has surprisingly been NYC.

Depends just like everywhere else you meet sweet people and some grumpy people as well.
But truthfully in my opinion Chicago! And the crazy thing is I was born in Bronx,New York City but raised in downtown New York City and moved to Chicago when I was 18.
People are also a lot more normal acting and looking in Chicago than NYC but once again I do not want to offend anybody so that is once again my opinion.
You should visit both places and see what you think!!

Chicago, of course. Seriously I don't know that NYC doesn't have the nicer people, but since I am in Chicago and I am nice well.

I would say Chicago. I have never been to NY, but living in a highly tourist area (Disney World) and being previously in the hospitaIity industry, I have dealt with people from both areas. I find people from Chicago a little more friendly, relaxed and laid back, and people from NY I find a little more rude, but the have a better sense of humor. Even though people from Chicago are friendlier and nicer, people from NY you can kid around with and be more down to earth with.

I visited NYC recently and the people were very nice. Every time we were on the subway or looking at a map, people would offer to help.
