I'm not a doctor nor a dietician but I do know a lot about food and physiology and I've never heard of any contraindications from garlic. Garlic is one of the healthiest plants in the world. Among a host of other good things it is good for the immune system. It amazes me that prejudice against garlic continues to this day. If you're really worried though, don't just take advice from us yahoos, ask a health professional.

No, garlic is perfectly fine for your developing baby.

In fact, if you plan to breastfeed your child, you'll likely find that s/he enjoys the flavor of garlic passed through your breastmilk if you consume a lot of garlic during pregnancy. Whatever they get in utero is what they're apt to like later on. Neat, huh?

Congrats and best of luck to you!

Congratulations on your little one Sasha! I am 7months pregnant and crave garlic on a daily basis...I can tell you this: Its not harmful for your child but sooner or later it may give you heart burn so carry those tums on you. And also if you plan on breastfeeding and eating garlic it can give your baby a little bit of a tummy ache. Good luck!

I was very picky about food while pregnant, and during my 2nd and 3rd trimesters I lived on eggplant parm and past with broccoli and garlic, lots of garlic!! I have a happy and healthy toddler. Enjoy!!!!!!

No not at all. If you are anxious about what to eat, I recommend the book, what to expect when you are expecting. It has a nice overview of harmful things to avoid.
