I remember getting up really early when I was like 6 or 7 years old. Mom had already gone to work and I was basically alone with my cereal and Jim and Tammy Faye. I would watch the only channel we got on our black and white TV...and Jim and Tammy Faye would be on there talking about Jesus. She had too much make-up on but her joy was so real, so tangible. I felt like her voice was wrapping Jesus around my heart.
Hearing about the financial scandal was bad. Everybody makes mistakes sometimes.
But look at their son. He is a wonderful evangelist too. He reaches out and touches all the people, not just the ones that are average joes. He embraces so many people that other evangelicals brush aside. To me, that tells alot about the way Tammy Faye and Jim were when the camera was off. They gave their son a lot of love and now it just pours out of him, he can't keep it inside.
God bless you, Tammy Faye. Jesus loves you, he really does and you are in his precious arms now.

She actually was a very cool lady. She may have not been the smartest, as evidenced by having a couple of scheming, philandering husbands, but she got smarter through the years and supported a lot of great organizations.
Yes, the make-up was a bit ludicrous, but if it made her happy, so what? She became a really benevolent person.

I will remember her as someone who sat in front of a tv camera, all 65 pounds of her, with her trade mark makeup on, and showed us all the meaning of dignity and grace while being in pain and just days away from dying. I am not a huge fan of the woman, but my goodness she handled herself impeccably through out the cancer ordeal, and even did a reality show (Surreal Life). We should all be that strong and determinded.
