Van Halen is slightly better though both had some monster 80,s albums tough call but i go with Van Halen

Since Van Halen's best album came out in 1978, and most of their albums in the '80s featured Sammy Hagar and sucked...
the Police on the other hand had three great albums in a row in the early '80s...

I know this is going to sound horrible, but I am one of the few people who does not like Van Halen. I think the are so gay. That stupid MTV video were he is wearing the white gloves and pouncing around like a sissy. I like the Police, the got a kinda reggae 80's feel to their music.

I like Van Halen's first CD, but not too much else.
I think the Police were talented songwriters, and they wrote a a variety of songs - some good, some mediocre. I can listen to both, but I do not own any of their CDs.
