When I was a teenager my boss had an old sign he hung in the barn -

"For God and Empire"

It was a call to arms - for the 2nd war - almost all of the men (90 % plus) between the age of x and y volunteered to go

I read the sign - carefully

Extraoridinary adventure - training meals glory God the Empire the King etc etc

No where on this sign did it say you may get killed

I always found that curious

Yes the absolute conditioned response is kill or be killed

It appeals to the reptilain section of the brain which is more than capable of over riding the thinking portions -

The idea is and always has been if your willing to die your willing to kill

You'd think we are humans would try to avoid situations like that wouldn't you ?

If people are willing to die for a cause, it is usually without exception they are able to kill for that same cause. Examples of this are the Kamikaze pilots of Japan and more recently suicide bombers. While murder and suicide are given high levels of stature when done for a cause, your question begs the question is there a morality, a right or wrong? Morality and the writing of history are the opinion of the victor. Historically, the conquerors in battles killed all the children as to avoid revenge in the future and they raped the women in order to re-populate the village with their bloodlines. Nothing is out of the question.

The only thing I'm willing to kill for is my daughter, and I am willing to die for her too.

Religion is the stupidest thing to kill for. They can die if they choose, but to kill when there is no proof God even exists much less is the same god you worship is wrong. I don't care what religion you are. And if there is a God, I don't think he has "chosen People".

No, during the Holocaust there was one group of people who were in the concentration camps beginning in 1935, which was three years before the general roundup of the Jews in 1938. They were the only group of people who could have left the camps at any time simply by signing a piece of paper, but very few of them chose to do so. They refused to co-operate with the hate campaign of the Nazi regime or to take the lives of their fellow man, but they were willing to die for their stand.

Country? Yes to both. If I sign up for the Army, I am expected to kill or die for my country.

Religion? It depends on which faith to which you subscribe. I am willing to die for my faith, but I didn't sign up to do that. God willing, I probably will never have to die for my faith. And I would not kill for my faith because it would run counter to my faith.

So the answer to your question is NO.

Our social conditioning is incredible. There are Muslims and Americans right now who have been conditioned to believe that some idea is worth killing each other over. All over this globe, people have been psychologically trained to be "soldiers" and to kill.

Who is worse. The Muslim trying to harm Americans. Or, the Americans trying to harm Muslims. What a ridiculous society we live in.

I have no reason to kill you or anyone else. Nor do you have a reason to kill me or anyone else.

No. There is a big difference. People will die for what they believe in like the Jehovah's witnesses. They had faith in their God. But what I know is they never killed anyone for their religion.

Not necessarily. If you're willing to die for what you believe in, you're willing to let another person's hate take your life from you. That takes a lot of courage. If you're willing to kill for what you believe in, you're willing to let your own hate take another person's life from them. That takes a lot of cowardice. If you're willing to die, you're willing to take punishment from someone who thinks you're wrong. If you're willing to kill, you're willing to dole out punishment to someone because you're convinced you're right. If you're willing to die, you're willing to put your own ego aside. If you're willing to kill, you're willing to let your own ego consume you. Dying for what you believe in means mastering your basic instincts; killing for what you believe in means letting learned ideas take you over.

No because killing is wrong. Dieing for something you believe isn't.
