when people transfer their garage to a bedroom, they always leave the driveway. i mean why cant they tear it out and park on the side of the road? or maybe make a half-circle drive-way? i was just wondering b/c the houses always look funny like that!

It will definitely look less like a remodel if the driveway is taken out, and also the ramp from the street to the driveway should be removed and sidewalk redone to match existing. I think people dont do the drive because they think its not necessary and it costs to have it removed and put back like its suppsed to be. If your gonna remodel, it should look as if its original. You shouldnt be able to tell where it was added on to. Get an architect if you cant design very good yourself. That goes for the inside and the outside.

I think they have been watching to many DIY shows, Yes I have seen this and they do forget to put in air ducts as for the out side, they can atleast make a flower box or a bush bed over the cement, and maybe put up fake mirror windows to give that normal house effect.

Many people don't like to park on the street. It does not look attractive, but until they can build a carport or new garage, it keeps the car off of the street.

Are you saying they turn the garage into a room, but leave a spot for a car? If you are, then I agree with you. Thats just weird.

I think it is because subconsciously they realize it is a dumb move that only detracts from the value of the property...so they do that in anticipation of one day (after the child who needed a bedroom in their too-small house leaves) returning it to what it was designed for....

I agree. When looking for houses to buy, I automaticall avoid those because if they sren't going to finish a job correctly then who knows what else they have half done around their house. It is not astetically pleasing.
