Hard to say... every benefit through technology has produced a hardship to go along with it, most people just don't see the down side...

For example: Are more people literate and better educated these days? Yes. Due to better schools & more books, which cost more trees, more concrete, more noise, more electricity, more food... etc. (thus less clean air, less tolerance for those less privileged, less natural resources)

Are more people living longer? Yes. Due to medicine, and proper nutrition and more health education. Again costing more natural resources plus now we have massive world over-population. Who lives? Who dies? Who gets to breathe and who doesn't? Who gets to eat, be educated, get a good job and have a family?

Seems we had different problems back a few hundred years ago, but always we looked to technology & education to solve it. Maybe instead we need a different answer, like self-restraint. If everyone who had a lot used a little less, maybe there would be more to go around...

nope. Science is the only 'god' that has actually rpoved to be of benefit to the majority. Without technology life expectancy is about 45 yrs, child mortality well over 50%, IQ low, disease rampant (think of Europe in 1300 for example), superstition and tyranny rule, there is no escape. No transport, law, communication, medicine, etc. Think about it. Everything has its downside though and of course mod tech has some downside, which we must now learn to deal with stat or the planet will go downhill.

In some instances it might, as it takes away creativity and the personal touch. But all in all, it has made life easier and enabled people to do things faster and more efficiently. So I guess there would be an argument on both sides. There are pros and cons with everything in life, so you have to weigh the advantages and the disadvantages of technology and decide what, if anything, it has done to enhance your life or detract from it.

Don't be silly. Modern technology does much more good than harm. More diseases get cured, we have things like movies, calculators, and everyone can get a book, because before we had photocopy machines, books we very expensive.
