Well, considering Rowling was still saying she was thinking of maybe killing off Harry for a good while after she made the comment of one character getting a reprieve and two getting the axe, I think he wasn't the one who got the reprieve. I think that honor went to Lucius Malfoy. He was supposed to be thankful for going to Azkaban after his failure, so I think she was probably gonna kill him off. Maybe as something to get Draco to turn on his dark master.
As for the two who bought it, I think maybe either Hedwig and Fred or Lupin and Tonks. Hedwig seems yet another reason for Harry to want to bring Voldemort down so early in the book. She's been the only one ever since Hagrid gave her to him for his eleventh birthday to normally be with Harry will at the Dursley's during the summer months as well as his link to the rest of the wizarding world while there. And Fred's death seems to be more like a lot of folks were afraid Ron, being Harry's best friend, would get it. So why not make one of his brother's a stand in for him. Plus it could well be a way to show that Mrs. Weasley could be able to get over her worst fear, that being the death of the people she loves. After Fred's death, look how she acts towards Bellatrix concerning Ginny. She's not as petrified as she seemed when confronted by the boggart in book five.
Lupin and Tonks are a bit different for why I think it might have been them. First off, with Lupin it's like she's getting rid of all the marauders. James is dead before the series even begins. Sirius dies in the fifth book. Then both Lupin and Pettigrew die in this one. That also means she's getting rid of James's closest childhood friends. Then the killing of Tonks is getting rid of perhaps the last of the major members of the Black family to be opposing Voldemort and thus getting rid of the last such of Sirius's cousins on the Black side of his family (Andromeda Black Tonks is Sirius's first cousin, which makes Tonks his second cousin). Then finally there's the idea that if she ever writes a follow up series to the Harry Potter series it may be about Ted Lupin who, like Harry, lost his parents in the fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

i think the reprieve was Hagrid- he was in a position to die in the book (tied up to a tree next to voldemort and his followers), but he didn't.
I think the two new deaths were Fred and Lupin, because Fred was unexpected ( how could George go on alone!?!?) and i thought Lupin should have lived to see Harry through and for his son Teddy.

I completely agree with you. Hagrid seemed doomed, but I think Jo killed off Tonks and Lupin instead. My second guess would be Ron.

I think maybe Fred wasn't going to die, but maybe another Weasley, like Charlie or Arthur or someone. And I think either Tonks or Lupin wasn't going to die; I think that only one was supposed to.
