Have a dealership run the VIN number. It should be on record if a dealer did the work.

The manufacturer of the SUV keeps track of the VIN's that have been corrected and those that have not. They have to send in quarterly reports into NHTSA as to how many outstanding defective vehicles get corrected every quarter. You can also ask if the part(s) were different or marked in anyway. Many times after a recall is performed they are denoted my some type of mark so they do not accidently preform the recall again.

If you only need to know if the recall was preformed on your vehicle the manufacturer can answer that. They do it on a daily basis ( Vehicles going across the boarder even need a letter saying all recalls have been performed before they can go into Canada.)

Contact a local dealership associated with that manufacturer. EX- Dodge Durango, contact Dodge dealership. Ask them to check for recalls. They like to find them cuz they get paid to do the work.
