If you guys hate these books why even waste your time in answering any of these questions...
And how can any of you say that it is childish, idiotic and moronic. These books and this author are the best of the age, if not more than that. Anyone who has half a brain can see that it is more than a fantasy story, and not even close for being just for kids.
This story grounds and debates the issues in the real world that we deal with everyday, just in a fantasy setting. That is what I love, and millions of other people love about fantasy and science fiction...it is more real than anything else because the characters are the best you will get in any type of storytelling period.
It is the ultimate tale of good and evil, friendship, growing up, family, war, politics, discrimination, atonement and so much more.
There is a reason that this series are the most read books of all time...because they tell life accuratly, just in a way that has never been told before.
Okay...now that I am done ranting...
I loved it!!! I cried my eyes out for at least half of the time, definitly in the last 200 pages, which were amazingly intense. I see all our favorite student characters in a different light. I don't see them as students anymore...but adults...It was strange not hving them at school at Hogwarts...which is maybe why I couldn't stop reading...they were never safe, and you could never guess what was going to happen next.
I truthfully did not expect that many people to die which is why I was crying so much. Some of them I definitly expected and others I was caught off guard...especially in the beginning...I didn'y know how much I liked that characters until he was already dead.
Them taking over the Ministry and cleaning up all the muggle borns was quite heart wrenching. It's like the Holocaust all over again.
But I think almost all of my favorite parts of the book had to do with Snape. Now knowing everything that we do I felt like I never knew him at all. I was balling the entire chapter where we go back into his memories. And loved the fact that one of Harry's son's name was Albus Severus...I cried all over again when I saw that at the end.
The part that I am so VERY HAPPY I was right about was the Malfoys. I went on quite a limb when I told my HP friend that I thought all three of them would be redeemed. It was quite strange to see Lucius all terrified and weak...and I am glad that they actually do love and care for their son as parents should. I have always been worried about that, seeing as there is no real evidence that they do. I would have loved to see more of the scene at King's Cross in the epilogue.
Loved it....one of the best books I have ever read...

I have extremely mixed opinions on the book.
I both loved and loathed it, to say the least.
There were so many questions that were left unanswered to me. I was greatly saddened as to who died. I know that if they hadn't died the story wouldn't be the same, but still. I thought the epilouge was total and utter crap, and confusing on top of that. At times when reading I did think there had been fanfiction better than the book...
I give my props to JK Rowling, though, for sure. She created a masterpiece. I've spent eight years of my life devoted to Harry Potter, and I have to say that another chapter has now closen. Although there are two movies left to be made, to me, this chapter has ended.

I thought it was AMAZING. Such a great book. Even the smallest thing mentioned from the first book was critical (Grindelwald, Eric the Oddball or whatever, they all mean something!). It felt perfect that the story had made a full circle. And Harry not dying at the end, that means he's survived Avada Kedavra twice. Kudos, Voldy, for using Harry's blood and ensuring your own downfall.

Wow civicnitro, I think you need to lighten up.
Idiotic and moronic? I'd have to disagree, the books are very well written fantasy. But if the Fantasy genre is not your thing I guess those terms could come to mind. But that's just your narrow view.
Demonic? Hardly. It's a fictional tale of good versus evil in a fictional world full of fictional people. If there's any message in there it's that the power of love is stronger than the power of evil and hate. Not a bad message, and hardly demonic. Time to let go of the rhetoric and dogma, it's not doing you any good.

I really liked it. I really wanted Harry to die but when it was coming to it i wanted him to live and i'm glad he did get to live. Voldemort died...i wonder what they did with his remains though and that epilogue would've been better if he had had someone different. there i answered the question.
