I have a stanless steel prop.I was on river today & after a while it started to act as it was slipping. I cant find any damage to the prop ruber and am wondering if it could be the lower unit.I got hung up on a sand bar 6 weeks ago.but no trouble until today.if you have a good site for trouble shooting I would greatly be in debt to you.or any help you can offer also. thank you in advance.

hi you may have damaged the rubber inside the hub of the prop. this is there to protect the prop. If you it a sand bar then this may be your problem.... Unfortunately it means a new prop or getting it fixed.
the worse case senario is that you bent your prop shaft and that would cause a symptom like slipping....
It may be that your prop is cavitating... spinning and not gripping the water.......... slipping like symptoms.... try with the motor lower in the water... or trimming the motor in...
My advise would be take off the prop and take it to a marina asnd ask them to check if it has spun or is spinning the hub. They may be able to fix it... if it isnt that,....
Put the motor in neutral .... make sure the motor cannot start... rotate the prop shaft by hand... and see if it moves up down or sise to side in and out... chcek to see if it turns true... make sure it isnt bent... If you find any excessive movement wobble or it is bent then you will get a the symptoms you discribe .... Unfortunately it means a new prop shaft which may not be cheap.....
Good luck... To be honest i think you have the beginings of a spun hub

very common to have to have the propellor rubber hub replaced , any prop shop can do it, they just press the old one out, and press the new one in.

The rubber donut can still slip if damaged. it may look o.k., but at speed it slips.
