Whenever I try to burn a cd or mp3 on my laptop, it says no drive detected. I have a Vaio VGN-FE770G. What can it be?

Ah, I hate that ... on my computer, it usually happens when it can not detect the device I am using, or can not read the CD I have in it. I would check to see if you can play anything from a CD on your laptop, and if you can, that means there is nothing wrong with your CD drive. You should just get a different brand or type of CD to burn with. If you can not play anything, there may be something wrong with your drive. I would take it to a shop to get it looked at if this happens. Hopefully you can get it sorted out :)

Go to your controlpanel..Find system icon.Click on device manager. scroll down to CD DVD,drives .Click on properties.Check for driver details Then Click update driver. You can specify from what area or drive to seach from try drive C: ! Also you can click on your Computer icon it will show you all drives available. click CD or E: drive. right click and scroll to properties ! you did not specified Which Operating system you have! If you are running XP. click trouble shoot directly from DriveE: go to my computer icon There you will see all the drive icons ! Click on CD drive rightclick then click properties. From there you can look at driver details, andupdate driver. there should be an troubleshoot this drive you can run. Also if you are on line you can click update driver and when prompted choose network .From there it should take you to the updatecenter for that individual hardware support center!!! P.S. don't take your computer to have it looked at just yet! It is not that big of a problem.! I Hope it works out for you!
