i have a great idea. how do you trace an IP address?

You normally need to have the program to trace them but there are some internet sites that will do it for you but I don't know what they are.

I have seen them but I don't have them any more.

At a command prompt (start run cmd enter) type
"tracert www.google.com" or an IP address. It will give you the hops it takes to get to the destination and how long each hp took.

There exists this ICMP utility called trace route. tracert from your windows command prompt.
