As of now, yes i would forgive them. i believe they are still capable (sp) of love. i believe something happened in their life that made them feel nothing when they torture others. people arent born this way unless they have some kind of birth defect.

my mom was molested by her uncle and she forgave him. maybe this is why i forgive them too.

i guess i might think differently if i ever am raped or molested.

It's odd that you ask this question, because the mindset in the U.S. is that a criminal has somehow violated all of society. However, it's actually only up to the victims and their families to decide if someone should be forgiven.

I'm all for someone getting treatment in prison to deal with what caused them to commit the crime. That being said, I of course realize that a fair number of them simply cannot be rehabilitated [I have several friends and family members who work in the justice system, including the courts and Federal prisons].

Child molesters are the saddest, as most of them were innocent molestation victims themselves as children. It's both a heinous crime and a viciously repeating cycle, and I really don't think that victims get enough counseling. Think about it -- such a vile act would certain skew and pervert a child's normal psycho-sexual development. I certainly don't condone or excuse a former victim growing up and becoming a perpetrator, but I at least understand why it happens. So sad...

yes i think that forgiveness and understanding are two concepts that are forgotten. everybody does what they do for a reason. they need help. people can change if u give them the oppurtunity. with a lack of forgiveness what are they supposed to aspire to be other than serial killers, rapists, and child molesters.

No I do not. Child molesters are evil and deserve more than they actally get in some cases. Serial killers kill for the thrill or compulsion of it and they never change and like child molesters cause a lot of pain for the victims and familys. Neither of these two can change. They keep murdering or molesting untill they die.

No, which is wrong due to my religion, but very hard to forgive when the person(s) harmed will be forever scared. One cannot remove the pain and suffering, but surpress it. If I want my father in heaven to forgive me, then I would have to forgive others. Otherwise I would not have a place to ask for forgiveness. With your question, it is still very hard to forgive.

Yes, i can only think what great strength it can takes! Like the Almish who forgave the man ,who murdered some of the children! Jesus, forgives those who ask for forgiveness. And really are sincere. And work each and everyday not to commit that sin again! We are to forgive, but I think we are also allowed to be cautious. In the Bible ,Paul was a murderer of many Christians, and he ended up being one of the most important apostles! Moses was a murderer, he turned his life over to God! We are to forgive! And let God judge and punish those who can fool us,but they can't fool HIM!

They are a disgrace to society. They choose to commit such terrible actions, and they should get their share of suffering for doing so. Most of them have the intension to do it again anyways, so I hope they all burn in hell. Except for Michael Jackson, because he's just awesome.
