so i hear all of this stuff that goldfish have a 5 second memory or whatnot, but they go CRAZY in their tank when my mom walks in the room. its just so weird though, its only my mom. and she will try to avoid them and they literally stare at her. i find it kind of funny, but very strange too that they can distinguish my mom from anyone else in the room!

theyre just 2 small, generic goldfish. a little bigger than the ones youd get at the fair, but not much. surprisingly theyre 5 years old!!

anyone experienced anything like this with their fish? or know why they may do this???

yes, they seem to reconise the person who comes by their tank the most often.if your mom feeds them, than thats probably why.in the fish's mind its probably like"mom=i get food".my betta does the same thing.

Godlfish are quite intelligent and may associate your mom with food for some reason. The 5 second memory thing has been disproven. If they are 5 years old, and still pretty small, you have them in too small of a tank. Goldfish get almost 2 feet long and require huge tanks. It sounds like you have them in a tank less than 10 gallons, if you can, get a 20 gallon tank ASAP. It may already be too late to reverse the stunting caused by such a small tank. Good luck!

There are sprays obtainable that comprise a undeniable "pheromone" that makes the cats "like" one yet another or human beings or dogs, even. properly, this is in comparison to magic, even with the undeniable fact that it fairly is form of like "kitty cologne" that cats react relatively to. you will locate those in a great puppy grant shop, or on line. Use as directed, and it may desire to help them "over the hump" in getting gentle with others. I at the instant have the pheromone collar on my one cat who's being aggressive in the direction of one among my different cats. this is unquestionably calming her down, and she or he keeps licking it! She LOVES it very almost like it fairly is catnip. She's had merely a pair nasty incidents so some distance, and the collar is meant to final 30 days. i'm hoping that the collar will help to the element that once the 30 days, the tensions could have eased between them adequate for them to get alongside with out any collar. even with the undeniable fact that this is having an result on her! Me... kittyslave23... i comprehend my place.

They have a good memory for their feeder - my beta does the same thing to me. Be grateful they're not turkeys - my mom had a small flock and they would follow her to the neighbor's house & fly up in the window looking for her - she hated those turkeys.
