Philosophy is the sum of what a society does, not a quiet room for deep thoughts and repetitive, deluded discussion.
In that sense they do teach philosophy in middle school. It's just not admitted.
The philosophy that's taught there is revealed in what is done, not what is said.

Check your own school out and ask questions of the teachers. All of them. They will reveal their philosophy to you by their reactions. You will win by having asked and received.

Having taken a course in college in philosophy, I can tell you that it is jam packed with the ideas of Socrates and Aristotle, Homer and the Iliad. That is lost on a child. Milk before meat (the Bible).

because most people in higher education can't wrap their minds around the simplest problems of logic, let alone morality. I mean, to put it in perspective- grown people still BELIEVE in a GOD!!! How can we ask the general masses to surrender to reason when mommy and daddy at home still teach kids to thank the invisible man in the sky for their meals that were born, raised, slaughtered, packaged and sold down the street?

Philosophy empowers one to understand life better and that is a threat to the status quo.

Socrates ultimately died because he exposed the ruling classes stupidity and the sheep that followed. Would our present governments want us really educated ?

if you read what little is written about the life of wittgenstein, you will find that he tried to make a living as a country schoolmaster after WWI but was generally hated by his students and the hatred was reciprocal.
