After smoking for 2 years, I quit in August 2006. I relapsed for a few days in April 2007. Now it is July, and I relapsed again today. Even after almost a year of not smoking, I was still craving a cigarette. Will it ever end?

Hey, I smoked for 32 years and quit about 3 years ago. I still have cravings but they will go away after a few minutes. Once a smoker always a smoker and just one can start the cycle in motion again. You have enough will power to wait those few minutes don't you? You have done the hard part.

The first thing you require for quitting smoking is your will power and a solid resolve. You need to overcome 2 factors.

a) Withdrawal symptoms like mood change, anger, depression, insomnia and headaches.

b) beat the Nicotine craving.

Along with your will power use an external aid. There are a lot of quit smoking aids available like gums and patches etc. I recommend a natural remedy from my experience. I used a natural remedy 'Crave Rx'. It is effective and has no side effects.

My Grandmother Smoked until she was 35 and at 89 she told me that now and then she still craves a smoke. That wasn't very encouraging news for me as I am now a 46 year old smoker. I want to quit but I think laser treatment is my best bet.

You may have more willpower than others get the gum as a backup maybe? Patch works to help you retrain your hands. Keep busy, eat carrot sticks.

yada yada.

Only you can quit and never quit quitting

If you didn't smoke for a year, nicotene was not in your system. It will take time but you will eventually get over it... When I first quit I still had that urge to light up.... but it was in my head not a physical need.

Hang in there you can do this... don't give into the cravings.

Just don't buy cigarettes and go out for a jog or do something productive. (It will get your mind off of the boredom of wanting to smoke).

But it's all up to you....so i can't answer that.

They will end after all the nicotine leaves your body. This is a process that takes many many years. Keep trying, it's worth it.
