When I add freon to my vehicle, it cools down the car for a few days and then goes away. Is there possibly a leak? If so, how do I fix it? The air still blows out - in fact, when turned to the heat side, the car heats up. So what are your suggestions?

take the car to the shop and they will run a dye into the system to find out where it's leaking and then repair it and recharge the system and you will be good to go, you can't really find out where it's leaking without the dye.

of course there is a leak. the first leak happens in the compressor where the shaft comes in at from the pulley.

Take it to a shop, they will have to remove all the old freon and oil (its illegal to do it yourself) and they will take the compressor out and rebuild it, then they will put in new oil and freon to the proper spec (because they have the instruments to do this with) and when it`s all done, it will have been done properly and will work like it should.

very likely...go and have someone find the leak for you. Walmart or some of the discount places. If you have the freon yourself pay them for finding the leak and be on your way. Do you have the proper gauges etc.?

If you have a mechanic that you go to take you car there and explain it to him. He will test it for leaks and etc and then he will tell you you have a leak in the system or it might be some thing else.

Inspect the condencer in front of the radatior for signs of oily residue from a freon leak. A small hole can be caused by a rock hitting the condencer core tube. AS ALWAYS YEAR MAKE MODEL AND MILES PLEASE

If you think you have a leak, recharge your system with R134 that has dye in it. Then check it out sometime with a blacklight and that should show you where your leak is coming from.
