yes, i think its the anticipation that makes it feel longer, when you are returning from a long journey or you are finally reach your goal....it must seem even longer to marathon runners or Tour de France cyclists....but, WOW when your finally there....its a great feeling

Funnily enough, it's not for me. The last mile home when you've been away is actually quite quick (Not really, of course, just appears so...to me...lol)
The 'longest mile' for me is probably the first mile of the journey back...
