The moped classification is restricted to 35 mph or less, and 49 cc displacement or less. Anything faster or bigger requires a motorcycle licence

In the UK you need a CBT certificate (compulsory basic training), which will allow you to ride a moped 50 cc capable of less than 50Km/h, with L plates, or a 125 cc or less learner legal motorcycle less than 11kW/16.6bhp with L plates.

Most states anything over 49cc requires a license. Some states all motorized bikes require a license.
