It's a series of books called 'The wheel of time' by Robert Jordan. It is very intriguing. I believe he is working on book twelve at present.

If you like reading non-fiction, about what goes on nowadays - I recommend these two -
1) "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader"
written by Bradley K. Martin
2) "Rogue Regime"
written by Jasper Becker
These two well-written books give an insight about the North Korean Government.
Fiction?
Try all the books written by Clive Cussler.
The hero is Dirk Pitt, with his sidekick Al Giordino. These are well-written.

A Study In Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle, it's a great detective story. The Story of the Siren is a fantastic short story by E.M. Forester and another really good book is The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells.

Depends on what your preference is.... I prefer psychological thrillers and books with series.
So far my favourite is by James Patterson, the Alex Cross series.
His stories have made it to the movies or TV a couple of times.. and I simply can't put a book down once I have started.
You should try it..
Cheers & Happy Reading.

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is my favorite book! I totally identified with Holden (the main character) the first time I read it.

"Islandia," by Austin Tappan Wright. It is a utopian novel. As in all utopian novels, an American named John Lang goes to Islandia. An Islandian friend Dorn introduces him to the country and the people. Dorn warns John Lang that Islandians live the superior life that they do because of their psychological mindset and their ties to family and land. Dorn warns John Lang never to get emotionally involved with an Islandian girl. He cannot marry her and settle in Islandia, because he has no family or land ties to give her. He cannot bring an Islandian wife to the U.S., because Americans have only nuclear families and no ties to land, because they move about constantly. So what does John Lang do? He gets emotionally involved with three Islandian girls.
