No! One fish will always end up the strongest and it will always be the last fish in the tank. In a 10 gallon tank, you can have 4 female Bettas and some other community fish, but don't mix males and females unless they are properly prepped for spawning. If you have a 30+ gallon tank with plenty of hiding spaces (plants, rocks, and other distractions) you might be able to get away with it. Only one Betta can live in a bowl (and even one is miserable in such a small space).

Absolutely NOT! You can not house males and females together except during spawning. You can house females together but you should have at least 3 to establish a pecking order. If you only have 2 females the Alpha Betta will stress out the weaker female and can cause stress or even death. Male Betta's are very aggressive towards their own kind and the only way this will work is if you have a huge tank..over 100 gallons. And even then you will have to have it heavily planted and keep a close eye on them. In the wild females will meet up with the male spawn and then she will swim away to keep from being killed. In a small tank there is no where for her to swim to.

The answer is yes and no.
Best way to see if the 3 could live together is to put the females in the tank together first for maybe a week or two. Then put the male in.
Most likely it will not work... but it could work depending on the temperament of the fish involved.

From what I've read from MagicMan, you have to condition the male with the female in another tank close by. Once they're conditioned for a week or so, you can add the female to the male's tank. This should only be done if you plan to mate them. Other than that, I think they will all fight until death.

On very rare ocassions the three could be kept together. I had a set living together peacefully in a 20 gallon tank. I think if it were any smaller they might pick at each other. MOST females can be kept together, however I have seen females fight to the death, unfortunately.
My answer would be is that you can try it, but you better have an extra tank ready to go in case they fight too much. You could put the male in a betta holder inside the tank and allow the females to swim freely to see how they react to each other.

The male will kill the females unless you have a very large tank, along the order of maybe 75 gallons or larger.

the 2 female bettas together, might be OK but not if theres a male betta together as well....because, the 2 females will be fighting for the male one and they will end up killing eachother.
