I want to graduate early from High School. I'm going into ninth grade now. I took my SAT's in May, and got an average of 730 for each part, Math being 750. What would I have to do to achieve this? I know it'll take a lot of hard work. Also, I see some of the benefits, but what beyond the obvious of starting college early? Also, what about drawbacks?

Thanks

I live in Maine. There is the Maine School of Science and Mathematics, which is my alternative to graduating early. I am sort of leaning towards there anyways. Also, My school has two AP Classes. I live in a small town called Buckfield, and it is the second smallest high school in the state. I am planning on doing math careers, and programming, but my school has next to nothing. I want to get it ASAP.

In which state do you live?
What is your high school like? Lots of AP or IB courses?

If your school has enough AP and IB courses, recommend staying in school and taking them. You'll be with people your age earning college credit for free.

If your school doesn't offer AP and IB courses, is there a math and science academy in your state? You could go there with others like yourself.

Dont Graduate Early! Do PSEO! Its a much better deal. Get your required credits in your first two years. In your Junior and Senior years, you can do Post-Secondary Enrollment Options. It basically allows you to go to a state college FREE OF CHARGE and take classes that count for both high school and college credit. It is a lot cheaper, and then it still looks like you completed all four years of high school.

I graduated High School early and it was not easy. I took summer courses and two on line courses on top of my normal workload. I'd say that the pay off of graduating early is not worth doing it. High School is actually a fun time in your life and you should enjoy it or you could end up regretting all the things you'll miss out on in your senior year.

good luck with whichever route you choose!

What's your hurry? You will be the youngest kid and if you are a boy girls don't date younger men . Demi and Aston were the exception. Take your time. Why kill your self to get to a place where you will work even harder ? I did it in college. I got out in 3 years flat BUT I was not with my class so reunions mean nothing to me. The people I graduated with were not really my friends. I went back to visit senior year in my new car and it just was not the same. Take a deep breathe and relax.
