Here they go again! Speaking before The Council of La Raza "the race" in Miami both candidates said in their first year of office they would revive comprehensive immigration reform. Hillary said that the Dream Act may have a good chance of passing during this Congressional session.
My Son may not be a Latino from Miami or an African-American from Chicago or a white girl from Kentucky, but he struggles just the same.
Where is his Dream Act? Where is mine?

Why do your interests have to be at odds with the interests of a Latin person or anyone else? Helping minorities doesnt mean that majority people get the shaft. Unless blue collar is synonymous with racists the interests are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Unions. A blue collar guy would understand that the Labor Unions had a membership of 1.5 million members in 1979. Now the Labor Unions are at 500,000 members. No longer do the union members vote the ticket chosen by the labor leaders. You may not agree on a singular issue, but many other issues are near and dear to your heart. Now you could vote for the Republican of your choice, at this point you should know exactly what they think of Union membership.
To your question, it sounds like a touch of resentment about this Dream Act. Your dream is that you are not a minority. You do not have to live with whatever comes down by the constant majority of voters. Minorities cannot take anything from you that the majority does not wish to see happen. Look at Congress. Whoever is in the Majority rules the day. Try as they might, the Democrats are not able to over-ride the majority of Republicans in the Congress. You have always been in the majority, I wish for 1 solid year you could be a life long minority of some type. And then explain to some puffed up white man where his damn Dream Act is. You sound as if minorities that have been here, all along..from slave ships to the border are stealing something from you. The people you refer to in your question that are true immigrants cannot vote, ineligible for social security, have no citizenship rights, cannot qualify for insurance, they are indigent. You want to trade places and be an indigent? The business owners like the cheap wage. If that dried up, you wouldn't see one mexican crossing back and forth from the border.
So we all struggle. Knowone has a cake walk...unless you are "The Decider," then you get to be President of the United States of America. How about them apples.

Being born into this country is a dream come true, all on it's own--I know I'm grateful enough that I don't keep looking at people who are far worse off than me, worrying about what THEY might get.

I suspect you're a blue-collar guy who wouldn't vote Democrat either way. But one thing to consider is that immigration is not the ONLY issue in the upcoming election. For many of us, the Iraq War is the primary issue. But that needn't be yours.

So, you don't think there are Hispanic voters who have issues that politicians should be concerned with? None of them vote?

It is like visiting a union or a major corporation, or a club exclusively for wealthy men or a group of black or Asian people. These are votes. La Raza is a primary Hispanic organization just as the NAACP is for African Americans or the KKK is for neocons and far right wingers.

Those of us born in this country have every opportunity to have the American Dream.

Lack of education is the main reason most don't realize it. Laziness is the reason. Making babies before one is ready is another. You must have a marketable skill...without an education you lack even the basics like reading, writing, grammar, basic math... Lack of those things put you at the bottom of the ladder.

And, it is self-induced.

Many of those who come into our country have NEVER had an opportunity for education or anything else. They need a boost.. So did many of the immigrants who have come here for 500 years.

There is room enough and opportunity enough in our country for everyone to have the Dream.

How can you be so silly as to believe for a single minute that whoever you vote for is going to make the blindest bit of difference to your life and your son's life?
It doesn't matter who wins because you will not be the winner and neither will your children or your children's children.
Politics is all about the government making money - not about giving to the people.
Wake up - the candidate who gives you a dollar in one hand will take it in the other.

Imo, this Country is in dire need for a change and Imo, Hillary is that change and I believe she'll do an excellent job running this Country.

Lets face it, she can't do any worse than we've seen in the past 7, almost 8 years.
