Just answer the question. I couldn't care less about your personal opinions or views on why you think this is not possible or highly unlikely.

Wow, look at all the white people voting for no. Racism and prejudice against colored people is still alive and well. You all should be proud of yourselves for carrying on the tradition.

I agree with the person who said that reparations should be paid to those who had actually been slaves. My family didn't immigrate until well after slavery was abolished so why should we have to pay anybody?

You seem to have forgotten that there were many blacks who owned slaves as well.

You also seem to have forgotten about all of the government funded programs in place for the underprivileged black community.

You also seem to have forgotten that it was their own tribesmen in Africa who sold the first slaves into slavery.

You also seem to have forgotten that racism is the practice of basing one's opinion about another based *solely* on her/his ethnicity which is, in fact, what you did with your comments on this question. By saying that the white people who would vote no are racist, you've made a judgment on them based solely on the color of the skin of their avatar ... so you are, in fact, a racist despite your avatar being white.

Bravo.

This position would make no difference what soever.

However, I honestly don't see how it could be possible to "pay for" the wrongs done to the Africans stolen from their country. To do so, it seems to me, would indicate that these lives could indeed be bought and sold, the slave buyers just didn't pay enough or pay the right people.

I do think that a fund should be set up for financial support of black businesses, insurance and such. Education is still the driving principle of our economy. So additional support should be provided so that everyone has a true chance to become competitive in the country. There are a lot of things that can be done to counter our culpability in the slave trade, I'm not sure a direct payment would work. It never has in the past.

I see your personal opinion was put into the second part. The race of a person answering this question should not be questioned. What would reparations do for anyone. That would be another government pay out. I know my ancestors did not have any slaves, white, black, Asian or any other color, in the US. I would vote 'NO' for reparations.

I agree, there are more important things that we need to be focused on right now. However, I wouldn't go to the extremity and say that slavery is a minor issue. To me, slavery could never be a minor issue. The African American ancestry has struggled for many centuries and devoted much of our history. That should always be acknowledged.

No, I've never owned slaves, but if something isn't done to rid The Sudan of it, I might go there and buy one just to embarrass whatever candidate tries to buy votes with promises of reparations.

I would be willing to pay my fair share of reparations if, in return, it was guaranteed to be an absolute FINAL SETTLEMENT of all claims of wrongdoing by white people against black people in the USA. Do we have a deal?

no and i dont care if you want me to elaborate or not

Reperations will do nothing for the cause of this country. Maybe the tribesmen who sold their own people should pay for reperations?

Honestly, I think it is such a minor issue and we have so many more major issues to concern ourselves with, I'd be worried about a candidate who made this a platform.
