Actually I have females that are just as pretty as my males. You can not place them in the same bowl! If you want to breed them you will need a 10 gallon spawning tank with a sponge filter and a heater. It is much more to breeding Betta's than just sticking them in the same container. You will need to do alot of research and prepare the food to feed the fry after they are free swimming. Also you will need seperate tanks to place the adults in after breeding them. And then of course you will need grow out tanks or bowls if you can handle doing water changes daily. BTW there are also short tailed males. Go to the following web sites and read up on these fish...

They are fine, one male (long fins) and one female (short fins), but first you have to know how to condition the fish. If you put the 2 in a tank together right now, the Bettas will tear each other apart. Read up on preparing Bettas for mating, and then begin the process. Also, a bowl is too small for 2 Bettas, let alone, breeding Bettas. Go get a 5 gallon heated and filtered tank and you will be more successful and you won't be risking injury.

First, permit the male and the female see one yet another (one way is by utilising getting a water bottle reducing an entire interior the backside a sit down it interior the tank with the female in it and allow the male swim round her and look at her then while he start up making bubbles and wait approximately 3 minutes a minimum of permit her our). . Then, it may take a jointly as so do no longer think of ohh their unlikely to mate.while they do start up he could start up chasing her around the tank and it may look like their battling yet their no longer their beginning. . Then, the female and the male could could curl into this lil ball and then the female could choose for the flow to the ideal lifeless then the male could %. up the eggs in his mouth and placed it interior the bubble nest . Then, take the female out in the present day and pass away the male in to guard the eggs.pass away THE MALE IN.

No, you need to do many hours of research on how to breed bettas. It's not as simple as just sticking them in a tank together. Just because one has short fins doesn't mean it's a female either. There are short finned bettas, often called plakat. I can't see your photos, so I will ask you this, do you see a white dot on the short finned betta between her front to fins? If so, it is a female and that would be an egg.
I would advise you to do a ton of research AND stock up on jars, lots and lots of jars..... plus be prepared to clean them twice a week or so.
After seeing your photos they both appear to be MALES.Don't put them together.

I agree with most of what is said above. However, I must point out that a bowl is not big enough for even one Betta, much less 2. A Betta *requires* at least 5/10 gallons of water to maintain health. A bowl is a living toilet.

No.
If you put them together, the male will kill the female. Breeding bettas is somewhat complicated and requires some research on your part. Essentially, the bettas need to be housed in the same tank with a divider separating them. They need to be able to see each other but not able to interact. Once the male is conditioned and has built a bubble nest, you have to let them be together for short periods intermittently until they breed. Then the female needs to be removed immediately so the male can care for the eggs.

Well, I couldn't open your pictures it said I wasn't allowed or something. But given your info I would say it's ok for them to mate. You just have to read up on how to prepare them for mating. There are things you need to do to each and for their bowl or aquarium too. I heard a lot of weeds or hiding places is good for some so they can hide but you also have to know how long they can stay together because a lot of animals get protect and kill their mates after pregnancies some kill the babies. I would ask the pet shop or look it up on the net. The shop is probably better since you probably will have to go back anyways to buy stuff to prepare. Good luck grandma. :)

Yes! But ONLY when the female's belly gets big.
Then the male will squeeze her stomach,& help her lay her eggs.Otherwise the male will do this & kill her if she's NOT READY to lay her eggs.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
