I have had Tweaky for awhile. All he has been fed are mealworms and crickets (thats what the pet store said to feed him). Whatelse can I feed him, and how many times during the week should he eat? He is full grown, but his tail isn't very fat. He is somewhat malnourished, and the store we got him from wasn't very helpful about what he should eat. He is mildly crippled from the incubation tempurature, so his hunting skills aren't all that great. :( I just want him to be as healthy and live the best natural life possible. He is about 2 1/2 years old now.

Phoenix worms are also a good food. Make sure he is not on loose substrate, like any kind of sand or chips as he could easily get impactions. Does he have an under tank heating pad to provide belly warmth? They need this to digest food. Make sure all his living conditions are correct. You can also put his food in the fridge for a few minutes to slow them down, this will help him "catch" them easier. If you haven't already, have him and his stool checked by an experienced reptile vet. Intestinal parasites could be affecting his appetite and over-all health.

A distinctive food plan of bugs could be provided, with the strange pinkie (infant mouse). For youthful and juvenile Geckos, feed approx. 5-15 crickets on a daily basis with the suited sized food. Adults could be fed the different day on 2-8 crickets, as quickly as a month attempt feeding a small pinkie. Any uneaten food could be bumped off, crickets can harm your Gecko together as sound asleep. you will discover that your Gecko loves wax worms, purely feed as treats as those are severe in fat. wish this helps and robust success at the same time with your geckos

I rescued two adult Leo's a few weeks ago that were extremely underweight. They have been eating A LOT of food! I leave a bowl of calcim dusted mealworms in the tank ALL of the time and also feed 5-10 crickets each and a couple of waxworms nightly. They are filling out really nicely and are much more active. Mine wouldn't chase food either and so I feed them with rubber tipped tweezers. Make sure to provide a heat mat (under tank heater) at one end of the tank so that he can digest his food properly. Good luck with your gecko...hope this helps. =)

Leopard Geckos will do very well on a diet of mealworms and crickets. I like to provide some variety in feeder insects to create a more balanced diet. Feeder insects I use are silkworms, mealworms, butterworms, and crickets with the legs on one side of the body pulled off. Crickets will bite your geckos while they sleep, these bites are prone to infection, so if you pull off one side of their legs then they cannot move around the cage and get to the gecko and also this prevents the crickets from climbing out of the cage. Gutload feeder insects for at least a day before putting them in with the gecko. Feed geckos insects that are not larger than the width of the head of the gecko.
Adults can be fed pinky mice, and superworms, though I advise only feeding a couple superworms at a time.

Hope this helped!

If you can find them silk worms are also a very nutritious food especially for getting a lizard back up to speed. If you balance it out well waxworms can also help him pack on the pounds(grams?), pretty quickly, but these cannot be a staple as they have little nutrition. Basically little gecko big macs!
