Both of these questions have no specific answer. You need to draw a line graph to really display the answer to each. However to solve them both treat the greater than/less than sign like an equal sign just as you would if x - 5 = 3. So to make these equal you need to add positive 5 to both sides which would give you x - 5 + 5 = 3 + 5 or x = 8 so x < 8

And for the other one you do the same thing once again, treat the greater than sign like an equal sign. so 2x + 7 = 5
First you want to subract 7 from both sides. which gives you 2x = -2. Now divide both sides by 2 which leaves you with x = -1 so the answer to this one is x > -1
