As we get older we begin at some point to be dimminished by age and the sometimes devistating and near fatal effects some of our experiences have on our lives. We begin almost to free fall. Physically our bodies become frail and our memories are not reliable however many people gain a greater sense of humour and become wise and accepting and not as rigid in their thinking as when they were younger. Those very experiences and accumulated years add a dimension of softness, knowledge to their characters and their personalitys that they would otherwise not possess.
In this expanding universe travelling through space and floating in unmeasured time like an infant in its amniotic fluid we are
both learning/ expanding and shrinking/ dying simutaniously? How do we explain the near impossiblity of our llives?.The diametrically opposed conumdrum life presents? How do we apply a rational to such an incredible phenomonon? Any thoughts? anyone?

I am a 63 year old female. Can not think for the life of me why I should get a girlfriend or why I would want to get older and stop asking questions. I think Life and all of its incongruities are wonderful things to think about, consider and take notice of. All the strange paradoxes that present themselves are there for speculation. If I am not questioning and speculating and not reasoning I may just be dead. I do not just think I write and all of life is fodder for my speculations.

I really think there is no real meaning to it all. You're older and therefore by nature wiser than I am. I hope as the years go by and as my library cards continue to fill up and my traveling continues around the world that I'll come to the point of just enjoying life for the happy little accident that it clearly is. And I'm lucky to have all the experiences. I'm in league with you... it is all mere fodder, another story, another character building experience... and one day we'll just move on.

Most poetic accounts of the whole leave no place for philosophy. At the age of 22 I put down The Chimaera. Now, at 41, I suffer from very few illusions. I know what sort of life I will lead from here on.

Language is responsible for your conundrum, paradox, and representational imagery. Here is something I often admit to my friends in earnest, even though they laugh at me. I tell them that the summit of being (gk: akra physeos) can easily be observed in the spiritedness of any moderately intelligent 12 year-old schoolgirl -- here is the model of nature's shining perfection, before the conventional poisons are administered, before the onset of manufactured adolescent rebellion.

One also must consider the formidable beauty of our souls, the unification of the five faculties into intellect. What we perceive "out there" in the universe can be investigated and reconciled through clear and careful thinking. The birth of rational inquiry is said to be traceable to Thales of Miletus. Is this all I can contribute to your question? By no means!

Most assuredly a mystery wrapped in an enigma, eh? Perhaps best to give up on conjuring a rationale and just enjoy the "show"? :))

Or, when confronted by a question like this, the "Zeniest" of the Zen types would say: "here, have a cup of tea". Do you know why? :)))

My thought about the world are this. I love this life I have been given....the meaning, the seemly paradoxical states, the simultaneously, they all don't seem to matter to me. And I too am middle aged. All your questions only turn me to believe even more resolutely in GOD

Why should we apply a rationale to this......just go with the flow along the river of life and stop living in the world of the mind.....

We cannot fully explain our existence, and this is one of the great mysteries that constitutes the truth of our being. Our existence has neither been earned or deserved, and as such, we can accept it love and surrender it with gratitude.

its something you grasp gradually as you age. There is no reason why we have to explain our lives they simply exist. I dont see a reason to come up with a meaning to life. It simply happens and you react to the world around you.

With experience, comes wisdom...don't know the rest, it just happens, I just wish I knew way back when what I know now...it's just not fair :)
