It may not be completely lost. Windows takes the driver files from one place and puts them where it wants for use on the device. Right click on My Computer, select Properties, then hardware, then device Manager. Click on the sound category, right click on your sound card, select properties, then driver, and then update driver. Follow the instructions. Windows will look around to se if it can find the driver files.
