Gruden took over an already very good Bucs team when he won the superbowl. He basically won the superbowl with Tony Dungy's team. Gruden can't coach young players and this is probably his last year in Tampa.

Gruden had an aging team, but the bucs made some significant improvements this offseason, so Gruden should be able to work his Chucky magic.
On Offense:
The Bucs did a lot to upgrade their offensive line. They signed Luke Petitgout from the Giants last year. A lot of people don't realize this but the Giants were 6-2 when Luke was starting and then they went 2-6 when he wasn't. They also drafted a lineman in the second round, and both rookies they drafted last year got their first pro off-season lifting regimen under their belts.
Moreover they fixed their QB problem. Last year the Bucs were always playing from behind due to early interceptions from their QB's... thus taking away any opportunity to pound the ball. Also, Garcia is a mobile, veteran quarterback and exactly what Gruden needs to methodically march down the field.
Defense:
First they improved their D-line. They drafted the best defensive lineman in the draft in Gaines Adams. They also signed free agent Kevin Carter, but their biggest improvement will come from a healthy Simeon Rice. This should be more than enough to generate a healthy pass rush.
They also improved at linebacker. Shelton Quarles was a solid player for years, but he was getting old and he missed a lot of time last year. So the Bucs then added probowler Cato June. Now the Bucs will have two probowlers at the linebacker position. Scary!
Last the secondary will be better. Brian Kelly is back and healthy. Phillip Buchanon got some much needed experience last year filling in after Kelly's injury, so Buchanon will do a great job at the nickel corner position. Last they added Sabby Piscitelli who they hope will be the next John Lynch.
Due to the upgrade in the O-line and at QB as well as their improvements on all three levels of the defense, Gruden will have a good year and save his job.

I think Gruden is a great coach. The Bucs just got old on him. Now they are kind of rebuilding. If ownership sticks with him and he wants to stay he can turn them around again. He did it for the Raiders before.

Gruden and, the BUC's will be okay, once they regain their defensive posture and, figure out who the quarterback will be. their best bet for now, is Jeff Garcia while it looks like the future belongs to Chris Simms.

He just needs to bide his time until he finds another playoff team whose coach is stupidly fired. Then he just comes in, wins the championship his predecessor would have won, and gets proclaimed a "great coach"
He kind of missed an opportunity in San Diego though...
