Why does everyone assume that the fairy was female? If that were so then there wouldnt be any left soon.

I really wouldn't advise it, and I'd say *no*.
There are a good number of folktales involving the Fey, some nice, some not so nice, and trying to capture one has been *real* bad news, and usually, eventually, fatal to the person who tried it...
They look nice, but they can pack one big, mean, wallop if you get them mad...
