Let the numbers be x and y
(x+1)(y-1) = xy - 4
(x-1)(y+2) = xy +16

Expand the expressions
xy - x + y - 1 = xy - 4
-x + y = -3 ------- (1)

xy + 2x - y - 2 = xy + 16
2x - y = 18 ------- (2)

(1) + (2)
x = 15
y = 12

Check:
xy = 15*12 = 180
16*11 = 176 = 180 - 4
14 * 14 = 196 = 180 + 16

The numbers are 15 and 12

(x+1)(y-1)=xy-4
(x-1)(y+2)=xy+16

xy - x + y - 1 = xy-4 --> -x + y = -3
xy +2x - y -2 = xy + 16 --> 2x-y = 18

Solving the two equations on the right, you get x=15 and y=12

Let the nos are x& y
so( x+1)( y-1)=xy-4---------(1)
(x-1)(y+2)=xy+16------------(2)
From (1) we have
xy+y-x-1=xy-4
or y-x=-3
or x-y=3-------------------------(3)
From (2),we have
xy-y+2x-2=xy+16
or 2x-y=18----------------------(4)
Subtracting (3) from (4),we have
x=15,putting this value in (3),we have
15-y=3
-y=-12
or y=12
so the nos are 15 &12 Ans
