It is one of three tactics in their play book.
One to shame you for thinking the way they do not.
Two to claim the victim status to win you over.
Three to attack with names and silence you.
This is all they have no ideas and they can not enter the arena of ides as they are bankrupt.

Many immigrants come to the united states from Countries which call themselves Republics.

Hence they hate Republics. the name Republican reminds them of the bad government or system they had left behind.

Now they think Democratic system is good and they readily acknowledge Democrats as being Democratic, while all Democrats do is try to keep these folks happy.

Iraq : Islamic Republic
Russia; Russian Republic
India: Socialist Republic

I am a Republican and I am not mean, nasty or a racist you miserable raunchy looking female and if you are black then you can go back to Africa where you belong. Republicans are sweet people....just look at Bush and Cheney. Aren't they adorable? Democratic pigs! You should look at me. I am the picture of sweetness, gentleness and refinement. Is that you picture Nicole? I take it all back. I am now a firmly entrenched Democrat and I love females in red dresses.

Is that really a presumption? hmm.. it's a pretty ignorant one.

I don't think either party is blatantly racist or sexist.

Now when you say Democrats did these things, Don't you mean to say "A" democrat called Clarence thomas the N word, or "A" democrat poked at Linda Tripp?

Cmon, your generalizing, and generalizing is what leads to the "presumptions" that your complaining about.

It goes both ways friend.

There are good and bad people in both major political parties. This article may clear things up about the tribalism of politics:

Basically, politics is about confirmation bias. People believe that Democrats or Republicans are crooked and thus remember any event that confirms their belief.

Well, because it's true. How can you argue with reality?

As for Klansmen in the Senate, Strom Thurmond got re-elected an awful lot by his Republican constituents and, heck, was almost old enough to have fought in the Civil War for the South. Jesse Helms was a similar shining beacon of racial harmonry.

I beiieve that perception actually originates from how the party was formed. the Republican party was originally the Dixiecrats. The Dixicrats were formed due to the Democratic party's opposition to slavery. (Strom Thurman was a Dixiecrat, and then a Republican). Dixiecrats main platform was maintaining slavery as an institution in this country. And like I said today the Dixiecrat party is called the Republican Party.

It's generally conservative republicans who speak of limiting the rights of people. They don't like gays and welcome any legislation stifling their rights. They don't like abortion and are more than willing to take away the right of choice for women. They don't like people who don't believe in their god and would take every opportunity to jam their god down any-ones throat under the guise of protecting their right to religion. President Bush for years refused to speak to the NAACP. Republicans don't like Muslims and group them all together as terrorists and speak of bombing them back into the stone age constantly. Republicans have a habit of trying to smear anyone who does not agree with the President's handling of Iraq and his global war on terror.

M any Republicans are perfectly decent people. But many of their "spokespeople" are mean, nasty and racist -- Limbaugh, Hannitty, Savage, Coulter, O'Reilly. No to mention all the mean nasty racists on Y/A who seem to be republicans.

Because we allow the liberals to define us as that.

Too often conservatives play nice with liberals who do not. They wrongly believe that taking the high road is the way to go. There is a difference between attacking and telling the truth.
