What do you think about the Executive Branch's latest assumption of absolute law?

Is our legislature so stunned and parolized that it's unable to do the only patriotic thing to do? Impeach!

Zapawaf says: "hippocrits, you say you're patriotic? Fight this war, free these people like any good nation would, and suck it up"

Before I explain anything else, I'd like to bring up the definition of a patriot:

pa·tri·ot - a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.

Now let's go back to Zapawaf's statement. I'm sure most of us love our country. Supporting the country is VERY DIFFERENT from supporting those that lead our country. Are you beginning to understand the point I am making?

"...defends his or her country and its interests with devotion". We are the country, not Bush, not Cheney, not anyone on top. We are the population, the masses. I'd say our interests as a country involve staying out of Iraq, being peaceful and not causing more tention that will result in more negative attention focused on us.

Blindly following the man in charge is not patriotic, it is ignorant.

"Fight this war, free these people like any good nation would, and suck it up"... What war? Aren't wars usually declared from more than 1 side? With more than 1 side invading another side's? Maybe we are the invaders, and they are defending themselves... some war...

Anyways to expand on "free these people like any good nation would, and suck it up", your definition of good seems a bit relative in this case. We are actually sticking ourselves into business that does not concern us. Is that "good"?

When did the "country and its interests with devotion" signup as the GLOBAL POLICE? We the people are the ones with the interest of not giving other countries reasons to come and attack us. If Bush wants us to be safe and secure (SO HE CLAIMS), taking away our freedoms and privacy at the cost of "security" then WHY is he provoking other countries?

Patriots are not robots that agree with their master. Patriots are people that stand up for the people of their country.

Try watching a "conspiracy theory" video, it's called Loose Change (3rd link below). Conspiracy theories don't have scientific / logical evidence behind it and Loose Change does.

No, he gave more power to law enforcement and those that are working every minute of the day to secure this country and make sure they are unable to use this country as a fund raising ground to overturn the government of Iraq.

Same old thang. The American public wants to be entertained - not educated. They stood in line for Harry Potter almost at the same time their Civil Rights were stolen. To bad your congressmen have never studied Civil Liberty"s.
Yahoo has already censored my comments once tonight . I doubt this one will make it either. Very sad situation.

Blocking property of people who may contribute to something related to the destabilization of Iraq. Of course the constitution doesn't apply. In this time of permanent "national emergency" we shouldn't worry details such as being deprived of property without due process of law.

Edit: I saw just say no's comment, and reread the executive order. Yes, it can apply to war protesters, or to people who contribute to certain funds.

No. He just activated legislation that had already been in place for several years.

But, aside from illegal seizures that ignore the courts, this doesn't give him any more ability than he had before.

Read the actual statute that the order relies on.
