Sorry to hear the system got so junked up. Do you have access the installation CD? Do you have a floppy drive? Make a boot disk from the files you can download at www.bootdisk.com. You will have to learn a copy DOS commands. To completed wipe it out for a clean install, boot from the floppy and fdisk, delete and recreate the partition, the format it. Boot from the install CD and run thru the setup process. Oh, you will need the serial number for the Windows too.

1. Insert Windows CD
2. You will see a menu that shows the different partitions on your computer (usually only one). Press "D" and then press "L". All your stuff is now gone, viruses and all.
3. Proceed with Windows installation, after creating a new partition.
4. Get some anti-virus software, like avast! or ClamWin. Please?

I think what you should do is reinstall the OS all over again if you have the CD(complete reinstall). it's better to reinstall the OS than to erase the hard drive because when you delete the the hard drive, the files don't really erase. when you reinstall the OS, the computer feels like it's new.
to tell you the truth, erasing the hard drive wont really help much

- boot with windows cd
- when you are asked to choose the partition, delete c: then make them again
- install in c: and format
- at the end, scan with antivirus, antispy, antiaddware, all hard.
- you don't need to delete other files in other partition than c: you only need to scan for viruses.
but, scan before and after installing windows.

if i were you...i would think, first of all...in hardware's problems...ram memory is one thing, very possible to do it...
second of all ...the hard disc trouble, bad cluster... and so on...
i do not recommend you to format c:\ without eliminate those items in doubt.....because you'll have much more work to do that...i say to re-install operate system

the only way is to re-format and re-install windows. try getting yourself a copy of windows and re-installing it. or you can download the diskette drive from the manufacturer hard drive website.
