My CPU is dusty and I would like to clean the dust out of it. How would I go about cleaning it without damaging the computer? What special equipment would I need?

I hate to trash other answers, but I don't have any choice here.

You do NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES want to use a cloth (static electricity hazard), and the risk of canned air (the chemical propellant conducts electricity) is one you really don't want to take.

Q-tips can be used, but ONLY if you know what parts you can and can't clean that way.

Hands down, the best way to do it would be to use an air compressor. Take the computer outside, open up the case, hold the nozzle 1-2 feet away and blow the dust out. Don't do this if the conditions outside are very dusty, though.

Oh, and your computer is simply called a "computer." CPU stands for Central Processing Unit (more commonly "processor"), which is an inch or so square and about a quarter inch tall (including the socket pins). Just thought you might like to know.

Hope this helps!

All you should need to do is open the case and spray it out with some canned air... like dust off, just make sure you hold the can upright so none of the liquid stuff shoots out.
