Sistas: This makes me SICK. Ever since slavery other Black women have used the lightness or darkness of others skin as means for taunting. Sororities have split up (AKA and Delta), friends and families torn apart, all for the sake of two Black women being disgustingly vain. Now here we are, hundreds of years later, STILL segregating each other by the incontrollable means of skin!? Do you know how much SHAME that should bring to you? Do you know how much Black blood was shed for that same subject? Yet, Black women continue to do it? Why? Do you really think the color of your skin judges your character as a Black woman? Would you be proud of your daughter if she went out and only had light/dark skinned friends because the others weren't pretty enough? Do you think that those women who lost a part of themselves, were beaten, ostracized, and lonely because of the color of their skin would feel good if they came back here? And it's BLACK women contributing to the stupidity? Why sista? Why

Apparently its some women with low self esteem and a complex. Being a light skinned black had its advantages back in slavery days maybe. People need to just let it go.

This is a good question and it's good that someone like you brought it up. I agree with you all the way. I'm a black woman too, and the way I see it is that every other race views and looks at us as black woman not light or dark. In their eyes we are black woman no matter how light or dark we are. So it puzzles me as to why some black woman make it such an issue. Why some do it I have no answer for that, but it's childish and very ignorant.
It's sad that even within our own race their is prejudice between light and dark. Some black people complain about other races being prejudice against us, but these are the same people that are a bit prejudice within their own race. We as human beings should come together in unity and love.

Everyone is a targed some dark skinned women think of themselves as less attractive and lighter women getting better treatmen but being a light skinned women im always a target for being the first out of my family to get pregnant or thinking im better than someone because i am lighter and my hair is longer than others all women need to do is look in the mirror and you tell the world who you are no matter how light or dark you are

Bliss I am white and may not need to answer this. But to me it doesnt have any difference to me. Look (not kiddin here) I have a couple who live right next door to me. The lady is light but still black but her hubby is dark and they have 4 children ( who my two boys played with growing up) 2 are light and the other 2 are dark complected. All the children are so brilliant all have gone to college and 1 is a doctor. The other 3 are still pursing their careers. The lady has never made any statement about her light skin. She knows who she is and is proud that she is who she is. As far as the stupidity I think its the whites that are causing all the problems course this is just my way of thinking. I also have lots of dark blacks as friends and wouldnt trade them for anything. Been to my neighbors tons of times and sat down and ate with her. So to me color doesnt matter. I just dont like this race thing. For me we are all human.

I'm a light skinned black guy and I can understand where you are coming from. Blacks still separate them based on color and it does need to stop. But, I have to say that I usually have more in common with light skinned blacks or other people of other races so I can relate to them a little better. It's almost embarassing to see that blacks discrimate each other after they fought for Civil Rights for almost all of their lives to be treated equally by whites.

Your question is very insightful.
What you mention is a manifestation of intra-race racism, which is not, btw, unique only to black races. It is clearly ridiculous, as are any conclusions based solely on pigmentation.
"High-yellow"and "redbone" are racist terms used to perpetuate this hateful and false hierarchy.
People who don't feel good about themselves are the people clinging to this self-destructive foolishness.
Such hater goof-balls may as well join the Klan!
